and asleep we may rest in peace.

NUNC DIMITTIS

             Lord, now lettest thou thy servant de’part in ‘ peace,

                          *ac’cording ‘ to thy ‘word.

             For mine eyes have ‘ seen thy sal’vation,

                          *which thou hast prepared be’fore the ‘ face of all people;

             To be a light to ‘ lighten the ‘ Gentiles,

*and to be the ‘ glory of thy ‘ people ‘ Israel.

       *world without ‘ end.  ‘ A-’men.

Officiant. Let us pray as our Saviour Christ has taught us:

OUR Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name,
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil. Amen.

Officiant. Blessed art thou, O Lord, in the firmament of heaven;

Answer. To be praised and glorified above all for ever.
Lighten our darkness, we beseech thee, O God; and by thy great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night; for the love of your only Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
