Canadian surgeon Dr Deirde Nunan will be speaking about her experiences working in Gaza at an event in the All Saints upper hall on Tuesday, September 16th from 1:30pm.
Many of us have questions about what the experience on-the-ground in Gaza is like, and here is an opportunity for us to hear a first-person account from a healthcare worker. Dr Nunan has been an in-demand speaker throughout the region and has spoken to CBC Radio about what Gazans need from people around the world.
Organized by islanders Phil Vernon, Maggie Ziegler and others, this event may be of interest to the parish.
Donations from the event go to support ’Grown by Our Hands’, a grassroots community initiative launched from within Gaza, promoting home-based food production and providing families with seeds, tools, soil, and training. It is run by a friend of Dr Nunan, who says the project gives her "an immense degree of hope".
