Jim Warren. Christmas Thanks. Epiphany Blessings

Anglican Parish of Salt Spring Island
Newsletter for January 7, 2026

Rest in Peace Jim Warren

Saturday, January 10, 2026 - 1pm

Please hold the family of Jim Warren in your prayers following his death last week, especially Joan.

His funeral will be this Saturday, January 10th, at 1pm at All Saints, followed by a reception.

The Ven. Dennis Hayden, a long-time friend of Jim, will preach.

Christmas Thanks

Between the bazaar, the concerts, opportunities for learning and fellowship, and the worship services this year, our parish richly celebrated the season of Advent and Christmas.

Deep thanks to all those who made this possible, from staff and leaders to those who attended or supported each offering in whatever way. The presence of new life in our midst is palpable.

Epiphany Blessings

The blessing of homes is a traditional part of the season of Epiphany. Chalk will be blessed this Sunday for the marking of entrances, and we will also mark and bless the doors of All Saints at that time. You can take chalk home to mark your doors if you would like, and if you can't attend the service for whatever reason, blessed chalk will be available from the parish office.

If you would like Rev. Juli to visit your home and to join you in blessing it, contact the office to arrange a time.

A Personal Update from Rev. Juli

Belovèd,

This past Sunday, I had the delightful opportunity to share the good news that Corvi and I are expecting a baby this Spring, right around Easter. We are so grateful for the love and warmth offered by everyone in the parish, and could not wish for a better community for a new human being to meet the world in. Thank you.

As I mentioned on Sunday, this has some logistical impacts as we are currently being told to expect a due date of Easter, give or take. I will be taking vacation from mid-March through mid-April, and am working to arrange coverage for that period, including Holy Week, in consultation with Bishop Anna and our wardens. We will make sure that Holy Week and Easter are marked well, and Bishop Anna will be at All Saints herself on Palm Sunday.

At some point later in the year, I intend to take a longer period of parental leave, and the details of that are still to be determined. Bishop Anna assures me that parishes do not bear the costs of providing parental leave, and I offer to you that this should not burden the parish.

If you have logistical questions, those are best directed to me or to our wardens. I know that you may also have personal questions, and I would say that this has not been an easy journey for us, and I may not share many details. We both very much appreciate your prayers, and the deeply supportive nature of this community. I look forward to marking many occasions of celebration with you all. Please do keep us in your prayers.

Peace and every good thing to you,

Juli.
