ANNIVERSARY BLESSINGS to Doreen & Wayne Hewitt, who celebrate their 35th Wedding Anniversary on June 7:
By the power of your Holy Spirit, pour out the abundance of your blessing upon this man and this woman. Defend them from every enemy. Lead them into all peace. Let their love for each other be a seal upon their hearts, a mantle about their shoulders, and a crown upon their foreheads. Bless them in their work and in their companionship; in their sleeping and in their waking; in their joys and in their sorrows; in their life and in their death. Finally, in your mercy, bring them to that table where your saints feast for ever in your heavenly home; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

WE REMEMBER the late Marjorie Lomas who died 8 years ago on June 12 at age 96.
The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.  [Deut. 33.27]

Please let us know if you wish any blessings or would like prayers for someone special to be added in the Prayers of the People for next Sunday by emailing The deadline is Tuesday morning before the coming Sunday. Thanks!

Some sermons by The Rev. Gyllian Davies may be found here or by request.

Alleluia. Christ is risen.
Christ is risen indeed. Alleluia.
Welcome in the name of Christ.
God’s grace, mercy and peace be with you
And also with you.

Almighty God,
To you all hearts are open,
all desires known,
and from you no secrets are hidden.
Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts
by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit,
that we may perfectly love you,
and worthily magnify your holy name;
through Christ our Lord. Amen.

COLLECT OF THE DAY  -  from Anglican Church of Canada, Truth & Reconciliation
Creator God,
from you every family in heaven and on earth takes its name.
You have rooted and grounded us in your covenant love,
and empowered us by your Spirit to speak the truth in love,
and to walk in your way towards justice and wholeness.
Mercifully grant that your people,
journeying together in partnership,
may be strengthened and guided
to help one another
to grow into the full stature of Christ,
who is our light and our life. Amen.

Before watching the service, we invite you to read the lectionary first.  The links below are the actual texts; you can use your favourite Bible or read the texts right here:
Genesis 3:8-15
Psalm 130
2 Corinthians 4:13—5:1
Mark 3:20-35

Come, Holy Spirit, creator, and renew the face of the earth.

Bring insight and wisdom to all who have stewardship of land, water, and air.  Give us grace to honour and treasure your creation.  Where we have pillaged your creation strengthen us for repentance and amendment of our destructive practices.  In our province we pray for all who work to preserve old growth forests.
Come, Holy Spirit, come.

Come, Holy Spirit, counsellor, and touch our lips that we may proclaim your word.

We pray for the church around the world. In the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, we pray for the people of The Church of the Province of Myanmar and Stephen Than Myint Oo, their primate. Bring Peace and healing to that troubled country.

In the Anglican Church of Canada, we pray for our Primate, Linda Nicholls, for our National Indigenous Archbishop, Mark MacDonald, and for the theological colleges and training programs within the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario.

In our Ecclesiastical Province, we pray for the people of the Diocese of Kootenay and Lynne McNaughton, their Archbishop.

In our Diocese, we pray for Anna, our bishop, and for the people of St. Michael & All Angels in Royal Oak and Dawna Wall, their priest.

On our Island, we pray for the people of Salt Spring Island United Church and Faye Greer, their minister.

In our own Parish, we pray this week for the households of Deb & Jim Smith, Jordan Soames, Joanna & David Southwell, Margaret Spencer, and Dovene & John Steele.
Come, Holy Spirit, come.

Come, Holy Spirit, power from on high: make us agents of peace and ministers of wholeness.

We pray for the Queen and all who exercise authority in her name.  We pray for the leaders of all the nations that they may become united in efforts for peace and justice.
Come, Holy Spirit, come.

Come, Holy Spirit, breath of God, give life to the dry bones of this exiled age, and make us a living people, holy and free.

Teach us to know that we can be neither holy nor free is we prevent others from so being through racism, colonialism, and taking an unjust share of the bounties of creation.

We pray for all indigenous communities across our country as they wrestle with the agony of the discoveries in Kamloops this week.  The Kamloops findings were not news to indigenous communities.  They have lived with pain for well over a century.  This week for them simply brings evidence and focus to suffering they know all too well.

We pray for the 215 children and all those rumoured yet to be discovered.  May they have found the rest, healing, and the comfort with you on the other side that those who purported to follow you denied this in this life.

We pray for their families and for all who left this life in pain for the loss of their children.
Come, Holy Spirit, come.

We pray for those in our community in special need of God’s grace and healing: Kathy Darling, Tony & Pam Brentnall, Sharon, niece of Helen & Tony Bruce, Nancy Holcroft, Mark MacDonald, Virginia Sha Lynn, Terri Manuck, Michael Overholt,  Michael Pidgeon & Richard Stetson, Al & Rita Robertson, Colin, son of Joyce James, Malorey and Wanda Stewart; and Margaret Spencer.

After the devastating fire early last week, we pray for Ken Marr and Mike Stefancsik, the owners of Windsor Plywood, for all their employees and their families, and for all those dependent on supplies from Windsor Plywood for their work.  We give thanks for the ways Windsor Plywood has supported this community.  We commit to doing what we can to support them in their rebuilding a vital business.

Come, Holy Spirit, wisdom and truth: strengthen us in the risk of faith.
Come, Holy Spirit, come.

God of our Ancestors,
who holds the spirits of our grandmothers and grandfathers
and the spirits of our grandchildren,
Remembering the Children, we now pledge ourselves to speak the Truth,
and with our hearts and our souls to act upon the Truth we have heard
        of the injustices lived,
        of the sufferings inflicted,
        of the tears cried,
        of the misguided intentions imposed,
and of the power of prejudice and racism
which were allowed to smother
the sounds and laughter of the forgotten children.
Hear our cries of lament for what was allowed to happen,
and for what will never be.
In speaking and hearing and acting upon the Truth
may we as individuals and as a nation
meet the hope of a new beginning.

Great Creator God who desires
that all creation live in harmony and peace,
Remembering the Children
we dare to dream of a Path of Reconciliation
                where apology from the heart
leads to healing of the heart and the chance of restoring the circle,
where justice walks with all,
where respect leads to true partnership,
where the power to change comes from each heart.

Hear our prayer of hope,
and guide this country of Canada on a new and different path.

Glory to God,
whose power, working in us,
can do infinitely more
than we can ask or imagine.
Glory to God from generation to generation,
in the Church and in Christ Jesus,
for ever and ever. Amen.

BLESSING  -  Francis Sandy Theological Centre, 2008
Return now to the circle of Life, knowing,
That the love of Creator God is with us,
The compassion of Jesus inspires us,
The hope of the Holy Spirit comforts us.
May everyone you meet know of your praise of God’s name,
by the singing and dancing of your hands, heart, and feet! Amen.

Go into the world to be God's peace and love.
Thanks be to God!
