HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLESSINGS to Nancy Wright (91 years on June 14) and Wanda Stewart (June 16).
O God, our times are in your hand:
Look with favour, we pray, on your servants, Nancy and Wanda, as they begin another year. Grant that they may grow in wisdom and grace, and strengthen their trust in your goodness all the days of their lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Please let us know if you wish any blessings or would like prayers for someone special to be added in the Prayers of the People for next Sunday by emailing The deadline is Tuesday morning before the coming Sunday. Thanks!

Some sermons by The Rev. Gyllian Davies may be found here or by request.

Alleluia. Christ is risen.
Christ is risen indeed. Alleluia.
Welcome in the name of Christ.
God’s grace, mercy and peace be with you
And also with you.

Almighty God,
To you all hearts are open,
all desires known,
and from you no secrets are hidden.
Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts
by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit,
that we may perfectly love you,
and worthily magnify your holy name;
through Christ our Lord. Amen.

COLLECT OF THE DAY  -  Revised Common Lectionary Prayers (2002) alt.
Mighty God,
to you belong the mysteries of the universe.
You transform shepherds into kings,
the smallest seeds into magnificent trees,
and hardened hearts into loving one.
May your life-giving Spirit
re-create us in your image
and shape us into your purposes,
through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Before watching the service, we invite you to read the lectionary first.  The links below are the actual texts; you can use your favourite Bible or read the texts right here:
Ezekiel 17:22-24
Psalm 92:1-4, 11-14
2 Corinthians 5:6-10, (11-13), 14-17
Mark 4:26-34

As we pray together please respond to ‘Holy Spirit’ with the words Help Us.

Loving God,
We ask for the gift of your Holy Spirit
to help us pray as we ought.
Holy Spirit: Help Us.

We ask for the energy and vision of your Spirit
for those who are tiring in the battle against injustice and oppression:
for those exhausted by the struggle with poverty and hunger.
Holy Spirit: Help Us.

We ask for the hope and comfort of your Spirit
for those whose lives are overshadowed by illness or pain;
for those whose lives are darkened by sorrow or bereavement.
Holy Spirit: Help Us.

We ask for the peace and joy of your Spirit
for those living in the shadow of war and violence;
for those eaten up by guilt and anxiety
and whose Christian life has become hard and dry.
Holy Spirit: Help Us.

We ask for the guidance and strength of your Spirit
for those uncertain how to use their time, talents and gifts;
for those tempted to do what is wrong.
Holy Spirit: Help Us.

We ask for the love and courage of your Spirit
for those reaching out to comfort the distressed;
for those reaching out to others with the Good News of Christ.
Holy Spirit: Help Us.

We ask your prayers for the Parish Renewal Task Force,
seeking our way to embody the love of Christ on Salt Spring Island
as we emerge from the pandemic into this new world.
Holy Spirit: Help Us.

We continue to pray for the 215 children and all those rumoured yet to be
discovered.  May they have found the rest, healing, and the comfort with you
on the other side that was denied them in this life.
Holy Spirit: Help Us.

We give thanks for the lives of Salman Afzaal, his wife Madiha Salman, their 15-year-old daughter Yumna Afzaal and Salman Afzaal's mother.  We pray that nothing good in their lives will be lost, but will be of benefit to the world; that all that was important to them will be respected by those who follow; and that everything in which they were great will continue to mean much to us now that they are dead. Help us to stand with all our Muslim brothers and sisters, as Christians committed to peace, justice and respect for all.
Holy Spirit: Help Us.

In the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, we pray for the people of The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) and Henry Chukwudum Ndukuba, their metropolitan.
In the Anglican Church of Canada, we pray for our Primate, Linda Nicholls, for our National Indigenous Archbishop, Mark MacDonald, and for the clergy and people of the Ecclesiastical Province of Rupert’s Land and Gregory Kerr-Wilson, their metropolitan.
In our Ecclesiastical Province, we pray for the people of the Diocese of New Westminster and John Stephens, their bishop.
In our Diocese, we pray for Anna, our bishop, and for the people of St. Barnabas in Victoria and Travis O’Brian, their priest.
And on our Island, we pray for the people of SSI Baptist Church and Chris Saffel, their pastor.
Holy Spirit: Help Us.

In our own Parish, we pray this week for the households of Wanda, Rikilyn & Malorey Stewart & Gary Traer, Jack, Joanne, Mikaela & Erica Stolz, Dale & David Storm, Gwyn & Ken Strike, and Surge Taylor.
Holy Spirit: Help Us.

This week we pray especially for: Kathy Darling, Tony & Pam Brentnall, Sharon, niece of Helen & Tony Bruce, Nancy Holcroft, Colin, son of Joyce James, Mark MacDonald, Virginia Sha Lynn, Terri Manuck, Michael Overholt,  Michael Pidgeon & Richard Stetson, Al & Rita Robertson, Malorey and Wanda Stewar, and Margaret Spencer

Please take a moment now to reflect on and pray for those in your life whom you hold dear.
Holy Spirit: Help Us.

Loving God,
We ask for the assurance of your Spirit
to know your presence with us in our daily lives:
in our relationships;
in our work and service;
in our worship;
in our times of joy and pain.
Holy Spirit: Help Us.

Please join me in the Lord’s Prayer from the New Zealand Prayer Book:

Eternal Spirit, Earth-maker, Pain-bearer, Life-giver,
Source of all that is and that shall be,
Father and Mother of us all,
Loving God, in whom is heaven:

The hallowing of your name echo through the universe!
The way of your justice be followed by the peoples of the world!
Your heavenly will be done by all created beings!
Your commonwealth of peace and freedom sustain our hope and come on earth.

With the bread we need for today, feed us.
In the hurts we absorb from one another, forgive us.
In times of temptation and test, strengthen us.
From trials too great to endure, spare us.
From the grip of all that is evil, free us.

For you reign in the glory of the power that is love, now and for ever.

In union, O God, with your faithful people at every altar of your Church,
where the Holy Eucharist is now being celebrated,
we desire to offer to you praise and thanksgiving.
We remember your death, O Christ;
we proclaim your resurrection;
we await your coming in glory.
Since we cannot receive you today
in the Sacrament of your Body and Blood,
we beseech you to come spiritually into our hearts.
Cleanse and strengthen us with your grace, O Jesus,
and let us never be separated from you.
May we live in you, and you in us,
in this life and in the life to come. Amen.

Glory to God,
whose power, working in us,
can do infinitely more
than we can ask or imagine.
Glory to God from generation to generation,
in the Church and in Christ Jesus,
for ever and ever. Amen.

God of truth, in your wisdom, Enlighten Us.
God of love, in your mercy, Forgive Us.
God of hope in your kindness, Heal Us.
Creator of All People, in your generosity, Guide Us.
And the blessing of God,
Creator, Healer, Bright Flame of Life
Be with you and remain with you always. Amen.

Go forth rejoicing into the world to plant seeds of love.
Thanks be to God!
