Extravagant God, lavishing your love on our poverty of heart: inspire us to give with generosity, to love life so that we may find it again, and thus the world will be filled with the fragrance of your love; through Jesus Christ, who offers himself for us. Amen.

On this fifth Sunday in Lent at the beginning of Passiontide, we raise our prayers to God.  In response to God of….  Please reply with Hear our Prayer  

The LORD upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. (Psalm 145:14)  

In the Anglican Cycle of Prayer: We pray for the Church of Nigeria

In the Anglican Church of Canada: We pray for our Primate, Linda Nicholls, and our National Indigenous Archbishop Mark MacDonald. We pray for the people and clergy of  the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario their Archbishop, Anne Germond.  

In our Ecclesiastical Province: We pray for the people and clergy of the Territory of the People Anglican Church and their steering committee.  

In our diocese we pray for  Anna, our bishop and for the people of St. Mary’s, Nanoose Bay  and for Alan Naylor their priest.  

On Salt Spring we pray for the people of Our Lady of Grace and St. Paul’s Historic Roman Catholic Churches and Father Scott Whittemore their priest.

In our Parish, we pray for the Missions and Outreach Committee and for these five households: Wanda, Rikilyn & Malorey Stewart and Gary Traer, Jack & Joanne and Mikaela & Erica Stolz, David & Dale Storm, Ken & Gwyn Strike, and Surge Taylor  

God of love hear the cry of those who yearn for love; fractured families, broken homes neglected, unwanted, alone. God of love ALL: hear our prayer  

God of justice hear the cry of those who yearn for justice; persecuted and oppressed, exploited, ill-treated, broken. God of justice ALL: hear our prayer  

God of peace hear the cry of those who yearn for peace; in battle zones and broken states, frightened, fearful, anxious We pray for the people and the leaders of Ukraine as they defend their homeland.  May God restore their peace soon – Slava Ukraini. We pray for all the people in Russia protesting their country’s unjust and unprovoked aggression. We pray for the leaders of all the nations working to restore peace in Europe and all around the world.   God of peace ALL: hear our prayer  

God of healing hear the cry of those who yearn for healing; physical and spiritual hurting, weakened, depressed. We pray for Kathy Darling, Mark Fraser, Mary Gelpke, Colin Lawler & his family;  Mark MacDonald & Virginia Sha Lynn; Don MacDougall, Sarah Mathieson and her family;  Michael Pidgeon & Richard Stetson, Ruth Seltner and her family;  Josep Roch, father of Carles; Simon Wheeler and his family, Ros & Mike Woolley, and Connie & Bob Wray.  We give thanks for all those who have died in the love of Christ.  Rest eternal grant unto them and may life perpetual shine upon them.   I invite you all to name those who are on your heart or whom you know to be in need of our prayers.   God of healing ALL: hear our prayer

God of mercy Hear the cry of those who yearn for mercy; convicted, in need of your Grace, contrite, humble, bowed down, God of mercy ALL: hear our prayer  

I love the LORD, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live. (Psalm 116:1,2) May we know The peace of God The love of God The justice of God The healing and mercy of God This day and all days Amen. 

Glory to God,
whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine.
Glory to God from generation to generation, in the Church and in Christ Jesus, for ever and ever.  Amen. 

The love of the faithful Creator, the peace of the wounded Healer, the joy of the challenging Spirit, The hope of the three in One surround and encourage you on your sacred journey, today,  tonight and forevermore. Amen.

Go from this place with the cross on your hearts.
