HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLESSINGS to Helen Bruce (July 18), Chris Scott (July 18), and Deborah Smith (July 23).
O God, our times are in your hand:
Look with favour, we pray, on your servants, Helen, Chris, and Deborah, as they begin another year. Grant that they may grow in wisdom and grace, and strengthen their trust in your goodness all the days of their lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Please let us know if you wish any blessings or would like prayers for someone special to be added in the Prayers of the People for next Sunday by emailing info@saltspringanglican.ca. The deadline is Tuesday morning before the coming Sunday. Thanks!

Some sermons by The Rev. Gyllian Davies may be found here or by request.

Almighty God,
To you all hearts are open,
all desires known,
and from you no secrets are hidden.
Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts
by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit,
that we may perfectly love you,
and worthily magnify your holy name;
through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Almighty God,
your Son has opened for us
a new and living way into your presence.
Give us pure hearts and constant wills
to worship you in spirit and in truth;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Good Morning,
As we pray together please respond to Holy Spirit with the words, Help Us.

Loving God,
We ask for the gift of your Holy Spirit
To Help us pray as we ought.
Holy Spirit:  Help Us.

In the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, we pray for the people of the Elise Anglicane du Rwanda and Laurent Mbanda, their archbishop.

In the Anglican Church of Canada, we pray for our Primate, Linda Nicholls, for our Indigenous Archbishop, Mark MacDonald, and for the clergy and people of the Diocese of Calgary and Greg Kerr-Wilson, their archbishop.

In our Ecclesiastical Province, we pray for the people of the Diocese of New Westminister and John Stephens, their bishop.

In our Diocese, we pray for Anna Greenwood-Lee our bishop, and for the people of St Luke in Victoria and Daniel Fournier, their priest.

And on our own Island, we pray for the people of Community Gospel Church and Dustin Little, their interim pastor.

In our own parish, we pray this week for the households of Diane Armstrong, Chas & Sarah Belknap, Donna Bellavance, Ann Blackett and Helen & Tony Bruce.

We ask for the energy and vision of your Spirit for those who are tiring in the battle against injustice and oppression:
For those exhausted by the struggle with poverty and hunger.
Holy Spirit:  Help Us.

We ask for the hope and comfort of your Spirit for those whose lives are overshadowed by illness or pain; for those whose lives are darkened by sorrow or bereavement.

We pray especially for Kathy Darling, Tony and Pam Brentnall, Sharon, niece of Helen and Tony Bruce. Tim Hayes, Nancy Holcroft, Mark MacDonald and his wife Virgina Sha Lynn, Terri Manuck, Michael Overholt, Al and Rita Robertson, Colin son of Joyce James, Malory and Wanda Stewart and Margaret Spencer.
Holy Spirit:  Help Us.

We ask for the peace and joy of your Spirit for those living in the shadow of war and violence; for those eaten up by guilt and anxiety and whose Christian life has become hard and dry.
Holy Spirit:  Help Us.

We ask for the guidance and strength of your Spirit for those uncertain how to use their time, talents and gifts; for those tempted to do what is wrong.
Holy Spirit: Help Us.

We ask for the love and courage of your Spirit for those reaching out to comfort the distressed; for those reaching out to others with the Good News of Christ.
Holy Spirit:  Help Us.

Loving God,
We ask for the assurance of your Spirit
To know your presence with us in our daily lives:
In our relationships
In our work and service
In our worship
In our times of joy and pain.
Holy Spirit:  Help Us.

Let us join our voices together in the prayer Jesus taught us:
Our Father Who Art in Heaven
Hallowed be thy name
Thy Kingdom come
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
For thine is the kingdom
And the power and the glory
Forever and ever.
In Jesus' name: Amen.

THE PRAYER FOR SPIRITUAL COMMUNION  -  Diocese of Islands and Inlets
Jesus, we believe that you are truly present in the eucharistic meal.
We love you above all else,
and long to receive you in the sharing of this sacrament.
Help us to be aware of your presence with us in spirit,
particularly at this time
when we are unable to receive you in this sacred meal.
We thank you for your promise that you are with us always,
and that with you at the centre we are united wholly
to you, each other, and the world in which we live.
We pray this in your holy name. Amen.

Glory to God,
whose power, working in us,
can do infinitely more
than we can ask or imagine.
Glory to God from generation to generation,
in the Church and in Christ Jesus,
for ever and ever. Amen.

The blessing of God almighty,
God the creator,
the Lord Jesus Christ our redeemer,
and the Holy Spirit who inspires and enlightens us,
be with you and remain with you always. Amen.

Let us go forth into the world, carrying the teaching of Christ.
Thanks be to God.
