 , please!\nThe Films\n\nSteamboat Bill Jr – is a 1928 American silent co
medy film starring Buster Keaton. Released by United Artists\, the film is
the final product of Keaton's independent production team and set of gag
writers. The film\, named after Arthur Collins's popular 1911 recording of
the 1910 song "Steamboat Bill\," also featured Ernest Torrence\, Marion B
yron\, and Tom Lewis.\n\nThe 70-minute film is known for what may be Keato
n's most famous and most imitated film stunt - the facade of a house falls
around him while he stands in the precise location of an open window to a
void being flattened.\n\nFelix the Cat - this 1925 7-minute cartoon featur
es the most successful cartoon figure of the silent era. In his own time F
elix ruled animation as Charlie Chaplin ruled live-action comedy\, Babe Ru
th baseball\, or Man o’ War horse racing. He was the mirthful personalit
y kid\, the effervescent trickster who could also play the lovesick Romeo\
, the lecherous sheik\, or the doting uncle while still coming across as a
loner. For almost ten years\, from 1919 to 1928\, he seemed to be everywh
ere—in cartoons that appeared at least once a month\, in syndicated comi
c strips\, in songs\, and on products you could eat\, wear\, and bring hom
e with you.\n\nEdward Norman\nOrganist Ed Norman and his wife Susan live o
n Galiano Island.  A brief bio can be downloaded here.  He continues to
perform on and off the island\, most recently playing the Historic Wurli
tzer Pipe Organ at Vancouver’s Orpheum Theatre for the Monday Night
Silent Movie series. Ed has been playing the Orpheum Wurlitzer for over 4
0 years\, usually accompanying the VSO and Bach Choirs.\nSalt Springers ar
e fortunate to have engaged him for this film presentation and concert whe
re he will improvise accompaniment on the magnificent 4-manual Rogers Orga
n at All Saints by-the-Sea\, Ganges.\nThe Organ\nThe All Saints Anglican
Church sanctuary is blessed with a Four-Manual Rodgers Hybrid (digital/pi
pe) Organ and wonderful acoustics.  This instrument is a powerhouse that
delivers the digital sound voices sourced from some of the finest pipe or
gans in the world.  They are rich in colour and deliver a realism found n
owhere else thanks to the care Rodgers sound engineers use in capturing lo
ng\, detailed samples using up to eight microphones. Click here for more
  information on our organ.
